I was an instructor in the Coast Guard. Four of my students answered my challenge of the week every week. I gave them each a clock for graduation. A nautical tradition is to get a swallow tattoo for every 5000 NM you’ve sailed. Stephanie wanted a brown background with a purple swallow on her clock since her previous unit was a Coast Guard Cutter.
I had just started making clocks at this time. I did not have much money. The wood used was on sale at a local store. I painted over the original sign. Unfortunately, if you look hard enough, you can kind of see that. Stephanie did not mind. She was very happy with the design.
Later, another Coastie purchased this same design on new 12×12 wood. You can purchase this design on 14×14 wood, as well.
